Candy Canes & Lollipops

I'm not one to post a blog that contains a poem and/or song lyrics, but today I will for the first time. I wrote this to be a song, but because of its drawn-out length and rhyme it may just be better as a poem. It's one of the first poem/songs I've written that isn't angry and about the opposite sex. I think it's appropriate as we come upon a new year. Check it!

My armor is strong

My wings are bright

I step on the shadows

And dance through the night

Good to know bad first hand

From the ashes we rise

Only now, I understand

It's what you bring with you

It's what you take away

Helps you grow as a person

Helps you know where to sway

Happy for the happy

Sad for the sad

I'm just glad I'm here

With the friends I hadn't had

Spoils for the rotten

Sweets for the pure

We've all made mistakes

We all seek the cure

Stay where you are if you please

That's your decision

Be careful what you seize

Stand proud

Stand tall

Love what you've found

Be it large or small

Tomorrow is for you

Out with the old

In with the new

Happy New Year peeps and peepettes!
